From Plans to Concrete Action
Our CRC goals rest on a foundation of principles and governance. In 2018, we set out to refresh our key issues, which reaffirmed that the goals we had set for ourselves were the right ones. With all of that in place, we could shift our attention to turning our plans into actions. We began the process by establishing our baselines for each goal and developing our action plans to reach our targets. In short, we worked diligently in 2018 to lay the foundation for our success.
- We developed an internal infrastructure that supports the fusion of our CRC and business strategies.
- We assigned CRC goal leaders and champions throughout the business, from the executive team to the shop floor.
- We set a starting point for each of our goals against which we will measure the progress we make.
- We refined how our goals contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs).
We believe companies have a key role to play in achieving the UN SDGs, and we are resolutely committed to doing our part to help society meet them. In our last report, we noted how our CRC goals connected with the UN SDGs, but after an in-depth review of the UN goals and targets in 2018, we realized we needed to be more specific about how our efforts align with them. Our responsible chemistry approach is most closely connected to three primary UN SDGs, but we also believe we contribute, on some level, to all the UN SDGs.
Chemours became a participant in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) on October 8, 2018. We are committed to making the UNGC and its 10 principles part of the strategy, culture, and day-to-day operations of Chemours, and engaging in collaborative projects that advance the UN SDGs.
